The Tidbinbilla Press Invites you to the launch of a book by ACT writer Sandra Harding

Life’s Flashes is a collection of poetry and short stories, often a spontaneous reaction by Sandra to everyday events – a memory of a happening, a word given, a photograph. It also includes a number of ‘faction’ stories about past generations. The characters are composites of people whose life experiences have helped make us what and who we are today.

All of us have life’s flashes – we see them, think them, and remember them. It is Sandra’s inclination to record them and, in doing so, she shows how life, with all of its challenges, may be quietly savoured.

Tidbinbilla Press, established in 1999 was named after that rugged blue-green backdrop of the Tidbinbilla Mountain to the city of Canberra in the Australian Capital Territory. It is said that the name Tidbinbilla is taken from an Aboriginal word meaning "initiation place". Wasn't it a great name to initiate a new publisher for Canberra as a collective voice of unity and inspiration?

The first publication of Tidbinbilla Press was a poetry book The Imprint of Infinity by Jennifer Martiniello, an Aboriginal poet of Arrernte descent, and Margo Stanislawska-Birnberg, a Polish-born poet. It was a collection of poetry celebrating the spirit of the Australian land with my introduction and book cover photograph. The launch of the book coincided with the opening of my photography exhibition, the Outback Celebration.

Tidbinbilla Press offers collaboration with writers in preparing manuscripts, provides expert editing and proofreading, manuscript design and layout, printing, marketing and sales strategies.

Tidbinbilla Press in association with Basia Meder Photography produces a wide range of unique hand-crafted quality cards.
